Ms. Jeanette DeLeon
Founding Operations Associate
Jeanette DeLeon was born and raised in the Bronx, where she attended public school and had the opportunity to continue her bilingual education throughout her school years. She is the proud mother of six children and has six wonderful grandchildren. After working in the corporate world, she decided to remain home while raising her children. During this time she became a parent volunteer and realized how much she enjoyed working with children and offering them a loving and nurturing environment. She found the same satisfaction working with parents and learning of their concerns for their child’s well-being. Eventually, Jeanette started a new career in the Catholic School System, where she worked for fourteen years. She began as a teaching assistant and moved into an administrative assistant role, which she held for ten years. She has worked with students in Pre-K thru 8th grade and has found the most satisfaction with 6th-8th grade students. As she says, “They are full of energy and excitement but at the same time are still young innocent children that need constant positive reinforcement.” She enjoyed planning trips and school activities for students, including being on the Yearbook committee. She has a Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate and is currently registered at SUNY Empire College in pursuit of a BA in Educational Studies. Jeanette loves being a member of School in the Square because she believes in the vision of the school. She values a place where teachers and parents can come together as one to plan for the future of the students, ensuring that their voices are heard. She appreciates that S2 is a place where children will find individual attention and are encouraged to pursue their passions as they prepare for high school.
