Mrs. Kia-Fiara Melendez

Kia-Fiara Melendez is passionate regarding the safety and emotional well-being of children, adolescents,
and families whom she serves. Mrs. Melendez has been a Social Worker for 12 years and has served
children and families throughout her career. Mrs. Melendez does this work because she needed someone
like herself growing up in Washington Heights.

Mrs. Melendez has spent the last 7.5 years at KIPP Washington Heights Elementary School as a
Founding Social Worker where she was able to build the social work department at that school. Mrs.
Melendez has worked with elementary school students as well as adolescents in the educational sector
providing individual, group, and family therapy. Prior to working at KIPP, Mrs. Melendez provided
individual and group therapy to adolescents and their families through Mount Sinai Hospital’s School
Based Clinic.

Kia-Fiara Melendez graduated from Utica College Syracuse University with a BS and thereafter attended
Hunter College School of Social Work where she earned her Masters Degree in Social Work.
Mrs. Melendez is enthusiastic to continue her career at S2 by serving the community in which she was
raised and making a positive impact in the lives of the children and adolescents in Washington Heights.
