Ms. Brianne Hunt
8th Grade Special Education Support Teacher
I have been working with adolescents for the last 8 years at both the middle school and high school level. I have taught all levels of Social Studies and have supported students with improving their test scores. I was the assistant coach for both track and field as well as volleyball at one of my previous schools. At my previous school, I was the special education coordinator and worked closely with students around becoming efficient self-advocates not only in the classroom but in the community as well. Prior to being a teacher, I supervised and supported adolescents as summer counselors at a summer camp and worked with them around maintaining professionalism.
I began at a community college in Rockland County New York where I obtained my Associates degree in liberal arts in 2007. I transferred to St. Thomas Aquinas College the following September where I studied Adolescent Education and History. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Social Science in 2010 and obtained my teaching certification for adolescent education. I continued my education at St. Thomas Aquinas towards my Master’s degree in Special Education and completed my graduate program in 2011. I continue to study and take classes in work based learning and other career pathways for students.
I am excited to begin working with everyone at School in the Square and support students with becoming independent learners. After working in a high school for so many years, I believe that I have a lot of knowledge and experience that I can bring to a middle school in order to prepare students for the transition. I look forward to building on the foundation of learning that School in the Square has created and fostering a positive and safe learning environment for all students.
