
Katie McPollom's Bio
Deputy Instructive Head of Schools
Katie McPollom joined School in the Square in July of 2024, as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and now serves as the Deputy Instructional Head of Schools.
Katie has 20 years of experience in education, as both a teacher and school leader in US schools as well as international NGO experience in India. She started her career as a high school French teacher through Teach for America in St. Louis, MO, and built strong relationships with students both inside and outside the classroom through coaching volleyball and leading international trips with students to France and Spain. She loves coaching and developing teachers and has worked as a Program Director with Teach for America, a Director of Education with Kranti, an NGO in Mumbai, India, and spent 10 years as a school leader with Achievement First in Brooklyn, NY, where she founded and built out a high performing high school, and in New Haven, CT, as a middle school principal.
Katie spent time with Lessonbee, a health education EdTech startup, where she led the development of a culturally relevant health education curriculum for kids and teens. She believes that students thrive when teachers are culturally responsive and build trusting and safe classrooms. She served as Head of Content and Customer Success before transitioning into the role of COO and co-founder. She led PD for teachers across the country and spearheaded the company's growth strategy.
Katie studied Biology and French at Indiana University where she was also the captain of the varsity volleyball team; she has a Master's in Education Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a Master's in Race, Ethnicity, and Postcolonial Studies from the London School of Economics.
