Our enrollment team is here for you! We are still accepting applications for Pre-K to 10th grade for the 2025-2026 school year.
Initial offers for the 2025-2026 school year will be chosen by lottery and made to students for Grades Pre-K through Grade 10 who have applied before the lottery date of April 3, 2025. On April 3, at 9:00 a.m., the Enrollment team at School in the Square, 12 Sherman Ave., NY, NY, 10040, will notify all families who have applied by then of their enrollment status. The School will continue to offer admission for the 2025-2026 school year to students on the waitlist, based on available spaces.
Transfer students, students with IEPs, and bilingual students are always welcome!
School in the Square is a network of free public charter schools serving families in Washington Heights, Inwood and the Bronx. We educate students in early childhood and elementary school (PreK to 5th grade), middle school (6th to 8th grade), and high school (9th and 10th grades in 2025, adding 11th grade in 2026 and 12 grade in 2027).
There is no cost to apply to or attend School the Square.

Our youngest learners (through Grade 5) benefit from our best-in-class dual-language program designed to empower bilingual thinkers, develop demonstrable competencies in English across our rich core curriculum and bridge cultures. Grades 1-5 enjoy daily 90-minute Spanish-language explorations, including regular field trips into the community and beyond.
Older students develop more maturity and independence as they take ownership for accomplishing at a higher level of challenge and deepen their academic skills while continuing to access Spanish language literacy and speaking course offerings. Acclaimed International Baccalaureate frameworks continue to reinforce the attributes of successful learners and responsible citizens while sports, clubs and arts experiences build on their interests.
