Panorea “Penny” Panagiosoulis' Bio
Principal, High School

Panorea “Penny” Panagiosoulis joined School in the Square in 2022 as the high school’s Founding Principal.

She started her teaching career as a bilingual math teacher in the Bronx, quickly earning a Rookie Teacher of the Year award for her work at IS 193.  She rose to Regional Math Instructional Specialist and became an Assistant Principal first at PS 65 and then PS 92 before becoming Founding Principal of Harlem’s KAPPA IV Middle School in 2004. 

Penny served as principal from 2007-2021 of Knowledge and Power Preparatory Academy (KAPPA) International High School, where over a 10-year period, students averaged over 90% graduation rates and a pass rate of 78% for the Algebra 2 Regents exam.

Penny earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Fordham and a Master of Science in Bilingual Special Education from Adelphi University.
